Tossa de Mar is the only point where a Preserves tradition that began around the year 1400 originated. At that time, Tossa, threatened, like all other places in the area of the plague that was already in some places its effect. Every place in his own way trying to escape the evil, including the then relatively important town of Tossa. Tossa promised so every year on 20 Send to January as a thanksgiving pilgrimage to the Hermitage St. Sebastian in Santa Coloma de Farners if they were spared from the plague. Tossa has been spared and has been sending this time each year a pilgrim who is now accompanied by hundreds of people for some 40 km from Hermitage. The pilgrimage, which begins at seven in the morning clock is in complete silence. The night of 21. January brings the company in Santa Coloma de Farners then the next morning to go back the 40 kilometers to Tossa. Part of the pilgrims will merge the two distances barefoot.
On the evening of 21 January is the pilgrimage back to Tossa and moves with the statue of Saint Sebastian by the city.
